Spider – Absence Entry / Roll Marking status drop down list can be made read only or hidden

Available in Spider version 2013.11.14 and above.

PCSchool has added the ability to make the absence status drop down list in Absence Entry ‘Read Only’ or ‘Hidden’.

This option can be used by schools who want teachers to be restricted to selecting from four status buttons when marking the attendance roll ( for example Not Marked, Unexplained, Present, Late for Class and one other), while the teachers can still see the other statuses entered in by the Back Office staff / Attendance Officer it will be in ‘Read Only’ mode.Spider - Disable Absence Status Dropdown List

Spider – Student Info ability to hide / show absence and late information to different users

Available in Spider version 2013.10 and above (Post Conference release available in October)

PCSchool has added the ability to hide or show the students Absence and Lates tabs in the Student Information view for various users: teachers, caregivers or students. This can be done using special keys in the Spider Configuration File.Hide or Show Student Absence and Lates tabs

The keys  in spider config are:

TCS says the tab should be shown for Teachers (T), Caregivers (C ) and Students (S)

If its just for teachers, put only T in this value.

Spider – Student Info has added security for split families

Available in Spider version 2013.10 and above (Post Conference release available end October).

PCSchool has now added the ability to hide or show the student address and contact information from various users. This is done through two new security objects that can be added / removed from the User Rights Equivalence for different users.

  • If they have ACCESS PERMISSION to 289 then will show the items marked in yellow in above image.
  • If they have ACCESS PERMISSION to 292, then it will always hide the yellow marked info.

 

Spider – Spanned Absences in Back Office sensitive to Spider Roll Marking

PCSchool has now made absences with a spanned date range in Back Office sensitive (and modified) to roll marking in the Spider.

Spider – Subject Assessment Due Dates Propagated to Calendar from ‘Subject & Assessment Criteria’ control

Available in Spider version 2013.10 and above (Post Conference release available end October).

PCSchool has made further enhancements to the Subject and Assessment Criteria control, now linking it to the Calendar. Due dates for assessment items can be entered in via the Subject and Assessment Criteria control with the ability to also add attachments (either files or hyperlinks).Add Assessment Date and Attachment

Spider – Subject Information available throughout Spider

PCSchool has now enhanced the ability for students, caregivers and teachers to view Subject Information throughout the Spider.

Spider – Additional Configuration File Options

PCSchool has added new keys to the Spider Configuration file as follows:

Disable ‘Change Password’ – Change password option can now be ‘hidden’ with the use of a new Spider Configuration key of “ENABLE_CHANGEPASSWORD”. This option can be used by schools who have alternate methods for changing user passwords, such as through a Single Sign On Interface. Set the key to FALSE to disable / hide the ‘Change Password’ option at the top of the Spider screen.

View Student Info from Absence Entry – Absence Entry control has now been enhanced to enable teachers to view the Student Information control for students in their class by simply clicking on their name in the roll. This option can be enabled with the use of a new Spider Configuration key of “SHOW_STUDENTINFO_FROM_ABSENCEENTRY”. Set the key to TRUE to activate this option.Enable link to Student Information from Absence Entry

Enable Email Authentication – Email Authentication can be set to use the default setting in Spider Configuration file when sending out bulk emails from Spider (such as Parent Teacher Interviews) but the addition of a new configuration key will prompt individual teachers to enter in their personal email authentication details when sending out emails emails to students / caregivers from within Spider. This option can be enabled with the use of a new Spider Configuration key of “LOAD_DEFAULT_EMAIL_AUTHENTICATION”, a value of FALSE will require teacher enter authentication.Email Authentification

Spider – Caregivers ability to see Student Address details

Available in Spider Version 2013.08.12.xxx or above.

PCSchool has now enhanced the ability for schools to hide or display student address details from various caregivers when viewed in the Student Information control.

There are two security objects that can be used to set these rights for different caregivers. they are:Security Objects

If you have “Spider Show Address” object for any users “User Rights”, then they can see the address. But if the “Deny Address Access” exists, then that overrides all other security related to this.

Split family in spider:

  •    By default don’t show the address
  •    If you have object 289, then it will show address

Normal family in spider:

  •    By default show the address
  •    If they have object 292, then don’t show address

You need to update the spider if you want this to work and download an import a new SSObjects.tmp file. The SSObjects.tmp file can be found in the latest Programs Followup, once downloaded the .tmp file should be added to the PCSchool\Data folder on the server and then imported in: Import SSObjects File

Spider – Help Content can be customised by school

Available in Spider Version 2013.07.25.xxx or above.

PCSchool has now made is possible for schools to add customised help content to each Spider control. This done via the Administration control in the Spider.Administration Control

Spider – Budget Dashboard improved linkage to Ledger Project Codes

Available in Spider Version 2013.07.24.xxx or above.

PCSchool has improved the Budget Dashboard control to display department income / expenses based on Ledger Project Code sub accounts.

Report is selected from those in Ledger Standard Report Setup and Printing (eg Department Report) and flagged to 'Publish for Project'.
