DreamCatcher CSV Export (NZ Schools Only)

Spider – Set Rollmarking buttons for teachers

Available in Spider version 2012.10 or above.

PCSchool allows schools to select which Absence Code / Status to use as the shortcut buttons in the Roll Marking / Absence Entry screen in Spider. The Spider will pick up  the first four codes from the attendancecodes.xml file found in the PCSchool\Documents folder on the server.

To change the codes or the order of the codes simply open the attedancecodes.xml file in note pad and re-arrange the codes so that the four you want as default buttons are at the top. NOTE: The NM button for ‘Not Marked’ is hard coded and can not be removed.

Spider – Absence Entry / Roll Marking status drop down list can be made read only or hidden

Available in Spider version 2013.11.14 and above.

PCSchool has added the ability to make the absence status drop down list in Absence Entry ‘Read Only’ or ‘Hidden’.

This option can be used by schools who want teachers to be restricted to selecting from four status buttons when marking the attendance roll ( for example Not Marked, Unexplained, Present, Late for Class and one other), while the teachers can still see the other statuses entered in by the Back Office staff / Attendance Officer it will be in ‘Read Only’ mode.Spider - Disable Absence Status Dropdown List

Spider – Student Info has added security for split families

Available in Spider version 2013.10 and above (Post Conference release available end October).

PCSchool has now added the ability to hide or show the student address and contact information from various users. This is done through two new security objects that can be added / removed from the User Rights Equivalence for different users.

  • If they have ACCESS PERMISSION to 289 then will show the items marked in yellow in above image.
  • If they have ACCESS PERMISSION to 292, then it will always hide the yellow marked info.

 

Spider – Spanned Absences in Back Office sensitive to Spider Roll Marking

PCSchool has now made absences with a spanned date range in Back Office sensitive (and modified) to roll marking in the Spider.

NZSSSC School Sport Census report for NZ Schools

PCSchool has created a report for use by New Zealand schools to extract the necessary information for the NZSSSC School Sport Census.

The report is based on information stored in the PCSchool Co-Curricular area. If schools do not currently record student sport activities in the Co-Curricular area we now have a Spider Web App control that will allow students to be able to select the activities they are involved in on-line. Program Update and Report Setup

The report requires the following information be entered into PCSchool Co-Curriculum:

Activities must be set up as Type ‘Sport’ and have Managers, Coaches etc assigned to them.Type & Managers

ACARA Data Capture Update for Australian Schools

PCSchool has now created an export format that meets the new ACARA (Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority) requirements.

To get the new format you will need to be on Curric version 2012.2.0.755 by taking the latest Followup from our website: www.pcschool.net/download/Followup2012-2.zip Current Version Number

VERIFYING THE DATA

As well as taking the latest update you will need to ensure the data in PCSchool has been entered correctly this includes checking the following:

  • Student & Family origin and background information has been entered and Family DETYA addresses have been verified as per the Government Reporting tech tip.
  • Students who are Non Australian Citizens will need to have one of the following indicators assigned to them in the Student View – Enrolment tab – User Defined tab

  • Non Australian Citizens who has Permanent Residency in Australia will also need to have ‘Permanent Residency Visa’ as the Doc Sighted in the Student – Enrolment tab – Enrolment tab

CREATING THE FILE

Once the student information has been checked and verified you can create the ACARA File via Subjects – Data Capture – DEPT EDUC(Aust) tab:

If there are any critical errors they can be seen in the Error Log and will need to be corrected before the file can be Completed / created.

Upon selecting ‘Complete’ the file creation to prompt the ACARA Key School Data screen to appear. You will need to ensure you enter the correct information for your school.

Report formats include the Full ACARA export or a smaller SBD ACARA export depending on your requirements.

NOTE AGAIN: At present ‘Visa SubClass Number’ and ‘Arrival in Australia Date’ is not stored in a standard field in the database so must be added manually to the csv file once the bulk of the data has been exported.

Spider – Subject Assessment Due Dates Propagated to Calendar from ‘Subject & Assessment Criteria’ control

Available in Spider version 2013.10 and above (Post Conference release available end October).

PCSchool has made further enhancements to the Subject and Assessment Criteria control, now linking it to the Calendar. Due dates for assessment items can be entered in via the Subject and Assessment Criteria control with the ability to also add attachments (either files or hyperlinks).Add Assessment Date and Attachment

PCSchool has now enhanced the ability for students, caregivers and teachers to view Subject Information throughout the Spider.

Spider – Additional Configuration File Options

PCSchool has added new keys to the Spider Configuration file as follows:

Disable ‘Change Password’ – Change password option can now be ‘hidden’ with the use of a new Spider Configuration key of “ENABLE_CHANGEPASSWORD”. This option can be used by schools who have alternate methods for changing user passwords, such as through a Single Sign On Interface. Set the key to FALSE to disable / hide the ‘Change Password’ option at the top of the Spider screen.

View Student Info from Absence Entry – Absence Entry control has now been enhanced to enable teachers to view the Student Information control for students in their class by simply clicking on their name in the roll. This option can be enabled with the use of a new Spider Configuration key of “SHOW_STUDENTINFO_FROM_ABSENCEENTRY”. Set the key to TRUE to activate this option.Enable link to Student Information from Absence Entry

Enable Email Authentication – Email Authentication can be set to use the default setting in Spider Configuration file when sending out bulk emails from Spider (such as Parent Teacher Interviews) but the addition of a new configuration key will prompt individual teachers to enter in their personal email authentication details when sending out emails emails to students / caregivers from within Spider. This option can be enabled with the use of a new Spider Configuration key of “LOAD_DEFAULT_EMAIL_AUTHENTICATION”, a value of FALSE will require teacher enter authentication.Email Authentification
